There are many companies supplying budget fishing poles as display poles, for which they are totally unsuitable, the Spirit of Air range of poles are beautifully made and the final top sections are completely solid , therefore able to cope with the twisting forces at play when a windsock, twister or kite are attached to the top.
There are some very important factors to bear in mind when using display poles, firstly , do not erect them near power cables or telephone lines, the first could severely hurt you, the second could land you a hefty bill. Also use the correct ground stakes for the pole , display poles work best when they are allowed to flex along their full length , so fixing to the ground and then attaching further up may have a detrimental effect on the poles strength . Poles can be damaged in high winds, so if the wind picks up, either drop your pole down a few stages or take it down completely, and don't overload your pole , everything has a limit .
Finally, due to the economic climate it's becoming increasingly common for poles and equipment to be stolen, so if you're unsure, take it down .
